There are two types of boxes in Ultimate Fishing: Lure Boxes and Rod Boxes.
In order to upgrade your Rods you will need to collect more Rods randomly awarded in Rod Boxes.
To Upgrade first access the Rod Menu, second button from left to right on the bottom of your screen, and select the Rod you want to upgrade. Click the upgrade button to see the requirements for the upgrade. Using your first rod as an example, you’ll need to collect 5 level 1 rods to Recycle in order to upgrade it.
