In this 2.2 patch, we’re making balance adjustments to hits on balls called outside the strike zone, certain pitches that lead to excessive home run rates, and the stats/skills of several infielders and outfielders.
Let’s dive into the details!
Patch Highlight
Hit Balance Adjustments for Balls Outside the Strike Zone
Based on your feedback, we’re making changes to how balls outside the zone are handled at the plate:
Increased penalties on hit distance for balls farther from the strike zone — in some cases, reducing distance by more than 50%.
Balls just off the plate (within the width of one ball) will keep the current penalty, so close calls still feel fair.
We’ve also updated the way hits are displayed: the drop location marker will no longer appear when a ball is hit, preventing confusion when it looks like a pitch in the strike zone was hit as if it were outside.
These adjustments should make batting feel more realistic and rewarding, while cutting down on frustrating hits off wild pitches.
- Changeup
- Resistance to the rebound effect for changeups reduced by 9%.
- Grounder rate on contact increased by 6%.
Because the in-game home run rate for changeups was significantly higher than intended, these adjustments were made to bring performance closer in line with other pitches.
-
Knuckleball
- Resistance to the rebound effect for Knuckleballs reduced by 2%.
- Grounder rate on contact increased by 8%.
To address the unusually high in-game home run rate on this very slow pitch, the knuckleball has also been adjusted for balance.
- Four-seam, Marie Four-seam
Resistance to the rebound effect for these pitches reduced by 2% on hit.
Because frequent home runs were making players rely too heavily on breaking balls, this slight reduction should decrease home runs and encourage more fastball usage.
- Two-seam, Roger Two-seam, Murdock Two-seam
- Resistance to the rebound effect for for these pitches reduced by 1% on hit.
- Sinker, Luna Sinker
- Rebound reduced by 1% on hit.
With these pitch balance changes, we hope to lower the high home run rates for easy-to-hit slow pitches and reduce the risk of home runs for fastballs in order to see them used more.
Character Balance Adjustments
-
Hammer
Skill stat progression reduced from 6/12/20/32/45 → 6/12/18/30/42.
Hammer’s usage among top players was significantly higher than other outfielders. This adjustment aims to level the playing field and give more roster diversity in competitive matches.
-
Jisung
Skill effects by position have been improved:
- 1B: Power +15, Batting Distance +5% → Power +20, Batting Distance +7%
- 2B: Speed +15, Move Speed +10% → Speed +20, Move Speed +12%
- 3B: Throwing +15, Throw Speed +10% → Throwing +20, Throw Speed +12%
- SS: Fielding +15, Error Rate -50% → Fielding +20, Error Rate -75%
Jisung wasn’t seeing much play at higher tiers, so these buffs should make him a stronger option across the infield. This could finally be his time to shine!
-
Rin
- Skill effect improved from -10% → -15%.
- Gains an additional -10% when paired with Rei.
Even after the previous activation adjustment, Rin’s performance data showed limited improvement. To help her make more impact, her skill has been strengthened further.
-
Tyler
Stat distribution adjusted.
Batting stat increased to better match his skill, which scales with stronger and more accurate hits.
With this change, Tyler should stand out more as a true left-field specialist!
-
Robinson
- Skill stat increase effect boosted by up to 20%.
Robinson’s skill is powerful but demanding, requiring consecutive hits to shine. This buff is designed to make his skill payoff more rewarding and give him more chances to break into starting lineups.
-
Andy
- Stats adjusted to improve synergy with his skill.
- Speed and Power increased to maximize his unique ability to accelerate the longer he runs.
With these changes, Andy can better unleash his potential—and send even more balls flying over the fence!
-
Ibrahimovic
- Stats adjusted for stronger skill utilization.
Known as the “Sidearm Killer,” Ibrahimovic now packs even greater power against sidearm pitchers, making him an even more dangerous matchup.
-
Smith
- Skill effect increased: Speed +30 → +40.
Smith has always been a hard worker, but his usage had been slipping. With this buff, he’ll have a better shot at beating out throws and reaching base safely on infield hits. It’s time for Smith to shine!
-
Rama
- Outfield throw speed increased: +50% → +60%.
Known for having one of the strongest arms in the outfield, Rama hasn’t been a common pick lately. With this buff, his throws should gun down more runners—making him a real threat in the outfield again.
-
Hanzo
- Stat distribution adjusted.
- Contact ability increased, while arm strength has been slightly reduced.
Renowned for his slick infield defense, Hanzo’s bat often held him back. After some serious spring training, his hitting has improved significantly. Expect a stronger all-around performance this season—even if his arm isn’t quite as overpowering.
