To run or not to run...
By default, all your players will start running to the next base on a batted ball. However, if an opposing fielder is able to catch the ball before it hits the floor, your players will automatically start running back to their starting bases. But when it’s not clear if the opponent can catch the ball without hitting the ground, your players will stop and wait for your decision (if they should move to the next base or go back to the same).
In terms of the actions that you can take:
- Manually signal a runner to advance, on the field diagram, tap the square closest to the base you want your player to run towards (on the bottom right, the 4 red diamonds: 1B, 2B, 3B and home base).
- You can press the curved arrows along the baselines to tell an individual player to turn back (arrows inside the yellow circles)
- To signal all your players to move, look at the bottom left corner of your screen. You'll find two opaque icons with direction arrows (bottom left). Tap one to tell your players to move forward or to move back to their starting base.
An advanced technique related to base running is base stealing. We have a different article on this topic we invite you to read.
