“Pitching is the art of instilling fear” — Sandy Koufax
Baseball can have a lot of Math and Statistics, but let us make your life easier with this simple guide for the Pitching Stats. Understanding a bit more about those numbers can help you while facing an opponent and when you are building your team!
Note that since every player in Baseball Clash is different, trying out new players and getting used to them is important. You never know if you have a diamond in the rough sitting on your bench!
It's possible to check different pitcher stats:
- On the Cards menu, while preparing your line-up:
Stat | Details |
MLB's avgs (2022) |
ERA | Earned Run Average - number of earned runs a pitcher allows per nine innings. Calculated by 9 x earned runs / innings pitched | 3.96 |
AVG | Batting Average Allowed by Pitcher - determined by dividing the number of hits against a given pitcher by the number of at-bats against him | 0.290 |
WHIP | Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched - shows how well a pitcher has kept runners off the base paths. Formula: sum of a pitcher's walks and hits, divided by his total innings pitched. |

- During a match: (other stats)
Stat | Details |
IP | Innings Pitched - number of innings a pitcher remains in a game |
HITS | Hits allowed - total times a batter strikes the baseball into fair territory and reaches base. |
BB | Bases on Balls/Walks - a walk (or base on balls) occurs when a pitcher throws four pitches out of the strike zone, none of which are swung at by the hitter. After refraining from swinging at four pitches out of the zone, the batter is awarded first base. A high BB means that your adversary throws a lot of balls! |
We wanted to keep it simple, but if you need more details about a certain stat, we invite you to search it on MLB's Glossary.
