In golf, the winner is the player who sinks the ball in the fewest strokes. Naturally, this often leads to ties between top players. That’s where tie-breakers come in.
How Tie-Breakers Work
- If you and your opponent finish a match with the same score, you’ll enter a tie-breaker round.
- In a tie-breaker, the winner is decided by who lands the ball closer to the hole.
Ultimate Golf shows distances with two decimals, but don’t worry — the game measures even more precisely behind the scenes, so the correct winner is always chosen, even if the display looks identical.
Special Tie-Breaker Rules
Hole-in-One
- If you score a hole-in-one during the tie-breaker, you automatically win.
- The odds of both players hitting a hole-in-one are extremely low (but not impossible!).
Out-of-Bounds
- If one or both players hit the ball out-of-bounds, the game will still calculate the distance from where the ball landed to the hole.
- The player with the shorter distance wins.
💡 Pro Tip
Accuracy is everything in tie-breakers! Small adjustments in wind compensation, spin, and aim can make the difference between victory and defeat.
